Fashion Design

The Fashion Design Course is offered to aspiring youth and adult designers comprising of students whom have completed beginner and intermediate studies. Those attending the course wish to develop and refine their design and construction skills in addition to making a capsule garment and accessory collection.
The course provides students with the opportunity to explore their creative expression through the use and medium of fashion design, textiles, textile manipulation, mood boards, fashion illustration, fabric knowledge, fabric versatility and construction applications. Pattern drafting, pattern alteration and in depth construction technique. Students learn to draw industry standard technical flat packs, create a portfolio and gain an understanding of apparel cohesion and a compressive understanding of presentation and branding.
Curriculum content and training in addition to course foundations include Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop instruction, fashion photoshoot principles, story boards, intro to photography principles of design and fashion lighting for photography.
Upon completion of the course participants choose a medium in which to showcase their collection and achievements. Fashions shows, displays, editorial photo shoots and portfolio publication represent some of the chosen areas of presentation. Students are encouraged to follow visual and conceptual fashion trends representing current marketing strategies and innovative methods in which to exhibit their work.
Numerous students who participate in the Fashion Design Course have chosen to pursue further education at a University level, enter the industry as a entrepreneur and advance into fashion advertising, fashion retail and the fashion beauty field.
